Are we in for a Long winter?

If the lack of a British summer has got you looking ahead to a winter wardrobe then James Long's third womenswear collection for Autumn Winter '12, presented at Fashion East will be the perfect antidote for winter blues. No one rocks a winter look like a Brit Girl, the lack of sunshine for the last few summers has given us plenty of practice, and James' collection will give you the perfect tools to build your winter wardrobe.

Shedding some light onto an otherwise dark season colourwise, the palette is strong and striking with subtle varieties of stone from black through to chalk. Gold shines through in the geometric zig-zags that can be found embroidered onto dresses, tops and jackets. Hard embellishments like fringing and leather quilting are mixed with the embroidery to toughen up the looks and add a touch of unique British edginess.

A winter collection would not be complete without knitwear and James does not disappoint with jumpers and chunky knits made from a mix of chenille, wool and cotton. The knits are dressed down with casual skinnies or paired with hot pink pencil skirts for a fresh winter office look. The styling of the look is completed with heavy winter coats, which are a key look from the collection, in tones of agate and tigers eye and made in a sumptuous mix of wool, sheepskin and velvet.

The collection is initially striking and on closer inspection you can see the amount of detail and thought that has gone in to creating each completely wearable piece. Fashion is not always functional but in James' collection there are no tricky trends, just gorgeous pieces that will stand you out from the winter crowd, and keep you wrapped up warm of course.
