There's No Place Like Home: Apartment 58

With a growing number of freelance creatives in London, it comes as no surprise that entertainment entrepreneur Alan Grant and his team have launched the city's first work and socialising space, Apartment 58.

This is more than your average members club, Apartment 58 offers a high-tech home from home, as founder Alan Grant wanted the space to have a strong focus on the latest technology. Facilities include a 24 hour Apple Guru, high speed wi-fi (that's a given!), Skype-conferencing facilities, access to Apartment communal computers (iPads, MacBooks and iMacs complete with software, iCloud and Apartment iTunes juke box). As well as having the technical credentials, Apartment 58 boasts the usual 'members club' services; a unique takeaway service with food from local eateries, drinks by resident mixologists and daytime business meeting rooms (by appointment).

'Friend's of the Apartment have access from 8am to 12am daily for you to drop in and out whenever you please, and why wouldn't you when the surroundings are so homely thanks to Mia Wallenius, Art Director, Designer and Producer of Klaus Haapaniemi. Key design features include soft furnishings and bespoke wallpaper by Klaus Haapaniemi which is modern yet chintzy, but in a good way. The interiors and furnishings of Apartment 58 has a simple and classic cosy design, with a collection of vintage mid-century classic furniture and cute quirky objects (we love the cat candle holders!) that lend the space a 'real apartment feel'. The decor is so convincing, when we visited the space for the Antipodium AW12 After Party, our friends thought it was actually someone's apartment.

"We want to make creative hub for the next generation, to relate to those working in fashion, film , music or design who perhaps don't have their own studios just yet but still want t a beautiful space to work in. Apartment 58 will help the industry day to day; our members can let themselves in with their own key, access the Cloud to work off an iPad or Mac, host sample sales or launches and even pick up their mail."
-Alan Grant, Managing Director and Founder (ex-Notting Hill Arts Club and Cherry Jam)

After a hard days work, your time at Apartment 58 doesn't end there, it is your new home after all! There's plenty of events for you to meet other fellow creatives. Book clubs, master chef supper clubs, fashion trunk shows, neighbours product launches, and art exhibitions are just some of after-work soirees to attend. Hell you can even book the private dining room and 'do lunch' or host an intimate dinner.

The Soho Apartment is open at 58 Poland Street, with an Apartment in Notting Hill and Shoreditch launching before 2013, as well as plans to open 3 apartments in each major fashion capital by 2015.

To become a Friend of the Apartment, simply apply online, where a Tenant will approve your application.
